Duaine Mischke age 74 of Westbrook, MN died Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the Windom Area Hospital in Windom, MN. Services will be held 3:00 PM Monday June 25, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 3:00 PM, also on Monday at the church. Interment will be in the Rosehill Cemetery, rural Westbrook, with a luncheon served immediately following the burial in the church social hall. The Almlie Funeral Home of Westbrook is handling the arrangements.

Duaine Dale Mischke was born March 21, 1938 to Emil and Johanna (Gertner) Mischke on a farm in Rosehill Township, Cottonwood County, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. He attended country school in Rosehill Township and Westbrook Public School. As a young man he farmed with his family and later went to the Dakota’s and worked as a field hand. In September of 1958 Duaine entered the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA, where he was a member of the 2nd Howitzer Battalion, 1St Artillery. He served two years of active duty and then four years in the Army Reserves, receiving his honorable discharge in September of 1964. On October 2, 1963 Duaine married Janice Jenkins in Sioux Falls, SD. They made their home on a farm between Westbrook and Storden. In the past He drove a milk truck route and worked for Cottonwood County as a road grader. He then worked as a heavy equipment operator for Boeck’s Construction of Westbrook for many years, Fishel’s Construction of Storden, Svoboda Construction of Jackson, MN, Riddell Construction of Westbrook and Williams Construction of Westbrook. Duaine enjoyed fishing, hunting, vegetable gardening, bowling and pool league and tinkering with mechanical things, from small engines to cars. He was a member of the Storden American Legion. On Thursday, June 21, 2012 Duaine died at the Windom Area Hospital in Windom, MN at the age of 74. Duaine is survived by his one daughter, Cindy (Kevin) Burns of New Prague, MN; three sons, LeeLand Mischke of Craig, CO, Scott (Deb) Mischke of Elko-New Market, MN and Kevin (Cindy Mahon) Mischke of Westbrook, MN; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; special friend, Bernie Olson; two sisters, Elaine Eichner of Westbrook, MN and Norma (Roger) Doeden of Worthington, MN; two brothers, Leon (Annette) Mischke and Duaine’s twin, Wayne (Delna) Mischke, both of Westbrook, MN; one sister-in-law, Dawn Mischke of Worthington, MN; nieces, nephews and friends. His parents, brother, Wesley Mischke, sister LaVonne Mischke, and two brothers-in-law, Bill Eichner and Bill Phipps preceded him in death.
